Turn Down the Marketing … and Turn up the Meditation

Turn Down the Marketing … and Turn up the Meditation

Have you ever felt like a cog in the good ol’ marketing machine? Like you are doing all the “right stuff:” writing your blog posts, promoting the crap out of your services … but aren’t seeing the results you were hoping for?

Here is a little secret (aside from that fact that businesses don’t blossom overnight):

Your Most Fruitful Business Endeavors Come from Within You … not outside of you!

So if you’re feeling un-inspired and you’re not gaining traction, take a step back … take a step inward.

If you are trying to build a business (especially an online one), you are most likely spending WAY too much time online, trolling around in social media, accidentally lifting other people’s ideas and copy, and then beginning to have an existential crisis about your value and your work (don’t act like this hasn’t happened, I see you!).

So take a deep breath, put your computer away, and chill the F*ck out.

Grandpa JohnYour best work, your most inspiring moments, and the ideas that will make you stand out from everyone else take form when you LEAST expect it (did someone say roller-skating? meditation? hiking?).

Meditation isn’t everyone’s cup of tea … but I encourage you to find your still place, and sit there for a bit.  Turn down the mental chatter, turn up the laughter, and let your business have the space it needs to grow!

When you build a business from this space, marketing will become easy … and maybe even fun!

  1. I totally agree with this!!

I was just talking with my best friend about the Steve Jobs book. I was just amazed at how he got inspiration from all aspects of life — art, spirituality, farming, etc.

If we just as you say, step away from our computer, and experience the world in new ways, we may be surprised what pops up in our minds!! Thanks for this reminder. I’m working on a video series now and definitely needed this wake up call moment!

    • Glad I could provide a needed reminder! I haven’t read his book yet, but I agree that inspiration does come from ALL areas of life 🙂
Good luck on your new video series and keep us in the loop!
